Destash challenge!
Well, somehow I’ve managed to keep up with the destashing…so much has been donated and repurposed. We are well over 100 LBS now…which has made a silly little goal land in my head. I was thinking, “Wouldn’t it be awesome if we got to 1000 LBS in one year? Then someone said, “Wow, a 1/2 a ton?!” And the deal was sealed…there’s no way I can look a silly challenge like 1/2 TON in the face and not give it a try!
So…as an added enticement…I’m going to give 2 bonus certificates to the person who destashes the most in each month (I’ll try it at least through April and then see if we go on). We are starting with February and right now, the leader has destashed 13 lbs. I’ll try to keep updated with the leader amount and definitely post before the last day of the month that I’m open. Sound fun?
Cast-on Mania begins today!!
Yup, today is the day! This is the last reminder. If you cast-on something today and get something of a list up here by midnight, you can still join in the lunacy fun. You should see the fabulous lists up already! Check them out and get inspired. Meanwhile, I will be hiding in a corner, rocking, and muttering “I don’t believe in you, February.”

Yes, we’ll be open today, regular hours – 12 to 5. I only live a mile away and have all wheel drive….if you come out…PLEASE be careful! It’s a prime knitting day!!

Yes, we are open today! Regular hours – 12 – 8:30. And I’m hauling in lots of new stuff today! 2 new colors of Chesterfield, more sunburst and cobblestone Sol, 4 colors of Noki, a new limited wool/raw silk called Denim in 5 colors and for the spinners…a super luscious hand-dyed Camel Silk roving! And if you missed the news last week, there were 30 new Combo Balls and a box of Malabrigo! Lots of yarny fun happening…hope to see you!
Last Day! Don’t miss out!
It may be only the second day of the year, but it is the last day for lots of things! It’s the last day to sign up for the Emiline Club (http://islandyarncompany.bigcartel.com/product/emiline-club) and the Hand-dyed Cowl Club (http://islandyarncompany.bigcartel.com/product/hand-dyed-cowl-club) and it is the last day to get the FIVE December patterns of the month for free (http://islandyarncompany.com/2011/12/01/extra-crazy-land-brings-you-five-december-patterns-of-the-month/) !
Holiday Hours – Just a wee change
Monday, December 26th: 12 – 8:30
Wednesday, December 28th thru Saturday December 31st: 12 – 5
Monday, January 2nd: Blissfully back to regular hours and normal-ish life
Also for you club watchers…I’ll be away in NY, but some wonderful friends are covering for me the 28th thru the 31st. I didn’t want to make them deal with too much extra stuff so the deadline for the Hand-dyed Cowl Club and the Emiline Club is extended to Monday January 2nd by closing time at 8:30. So please do me a favor and either sign up by the end of the day on the 26th or wait til January 2nd. I don’t want my buddies tearing their hair out with special instructions!

MetroWest Yarn Over!!
It’s this weekend! If you have not gotten your tour packet yet, now is the time! No packets will be sold during the tour, so get them from any of the participating stores before closing time on Thursday, September 30th!
We will be open special, extended hours for the tour. Our hours will be:
Friday, October 1st, 11-5
Saturday October 2nd, 11-6
Sunday, October 3rd, 11-5
We have some very special guests planning on coming in! On Friday, from 1-5, Diane Carlson will be in with a gorgeous load of Great Adirondack yarns for all of you. It will be like a mini-trunk show! If you have missed our Trunk Show in the past, this will be a great way to see a sampling of the mesmerizing variety of colors and fibers available from Great Adirondack!
On Saturday, from 12-3, our favorite cashmere lady Ellie will be visiting us!She will be there with her wheel and showing how some of her super luxurious yarn is made and with basketfuls of cashmere for sale. Don’t miss her! To feel her yarn is to want her yarn!
Friday will also be the beginning of our October pattern of the month, which is so squishy and luscious, you’ll want to take a long winter’s nap in it!
And all weekend long, we will have yarn tastings, special deals, and prizes! Stay tuned on our Ravelry Group or through our twitter feed to find out what the extra special deal for each day is! (Just a hint for Friday, the new Interweave Weekend 2010 which has my design for Calomel Gloves might just be apart of Friday’s special deal!)
